little birdies
I
was standing at the kitchen sink, washing a few pots a minute ago. I
had lifted the window a crack earlier today, and tonight, as I was up
to my elbows in steaming, sudsy water, a cool breeze wafted through the
window, laden with heavy lemon-blossom fragrance. I picked my lemons
several weeks ago and pruned to trees a bit, just in time for massive
numbers of strong-smelling blossoms to pop out. It is lovely!
Earlier
this week, I was washing dishes again (can you tell it’s my turn at the
moment?!) and observed a pair of cardinals and a pair of robins
flouncing about in my trees. Then Meg decided to bound out the door,
and they quickly disappeared from sight. That reminds me; I haven’t
seen any mourning doves in a long while.
Today I worked all
afternon and evening in my yard, prepping a flower bed for the bushes
and flowers I bought last week. Several hummingbirds visited the red
feeder while I was out...so, so cute!
I have soooo much to do
for Cori’s shower on Saturday. And since it is spring break, I get to
catch up on ll the work, laundry, finances, taxes, in addition to
painting, shopping, and planning. Went shopping all afternoon on
Saturday. Brian and Cori were my drivers for the day; didn’t plan it
that way, but didn’t think about driving my own car for such a long
shopping list! How do I catch up with so much to get done in so few
short days off?!
I have to get up first thing in the AM to ice a cake. Still have several pie crusts to prep tonight before I hit the sack.
Sooo tired... :P

| feels like todayI know, I know. It's been a LOOONG while since I have posted here. I just got tired of cross posting to all my blogs...livejournal (main blog and for HC friends), myspace (for local friends & students), etc. Then I forgot about my ex-ATI friends here at xanga and neglected you all. My apologies. :(
I enjoyed today at my house, swimming and soaking up the good, warm sun. A pair of cardinals were flitting about in the palm trees, and the pool Polaris tail flicked water on me every five minutes or so. It was good just to rest, with nothing to do. My neighbor was cutting his lawn and burning wood...both good smells. Later listened to Josh Turner, took a nap, and finally perused my Coastal Living for the month.
I spent all of Friday cleaning and arranging the house in preparation for the Prom Party. I went from room to room, washing, wiping, vacuuming, and straightening furniture. It all looks splendid. I had lost of visitors all day...it was GOOD to see Kristen!!! :)
The Prom and after party were both a SUCCESS! Our proms are not really proms, in that we don't dance, but we do offer the opportunity for the high school kids to dress fancy/formal, dine at a 4-5 star restaurant, and have fun spending time together afterwards. This year we had 30 kids at Zea's Rotisserie & Grille downtown.
The superlative votes went down this way: Most Respected: Brandon Boyd Most likely to succeed: Jay Odom Most likely to still be working on a college degree in five years: Cary Hall Most likely to get lost on a road trip: Aly Jeffrey Most likely to sing in the shower: Roger Vaughn Most likely to get a job as a furry animal character at an amusement park: Nathaniel Edwards Prom King: Adam Narvaez Prom Queen: Cary Hall
It was fun, and I got lots of great pics!!! :P The after party was at Sarah and my house. Mostly everyone played hide and go seek for a little, then settled in for over two hours of the game "Battle of the Sexes." The kids were HILARIOUS!!! I was in the next room, helping both teams and having a hoot. It was midnight by the time they were winding down. Most of the younger ones were getting picked up, so the seniors went swimming and stayed talking until 2:15 or so. Overall it was a fun evening. The only that went wrong were that we forgot to get a prize for Most Respected (to come later...) and I forgot to give out the prom favors: 2007 bubbles, glow-in-the-dark 2007 glasses, and grad tassel key rings for the seniors. Phooey!!! :P

| Mr. Cedeno just died!I just received a call from Joseph Cedeno, telling us that his dad passed away unexpectantly this afternoon from complications from a colon surgery. Many of you know Joseph and his older brother James, Class of 2006. They have been a part of CIAS for five or so years.
Please pray for their family right now! He leaves his wife Laura and seven children.
The kids only found out about two hours ago, and Joseph immediately called me. We can only pray, pray, pray for them.
I will post the service info for everyone who would like to attend as soon as I find out. Those arrangements have not been made yet. CIAS will be accepting tax-deductible donations that will go directly to the Cedeno family as well.
Spread this around to everyone you know from CIAS.

| Happy Birthday, Tricia!It’s Tricia’s 30th birthday today.
Today I am making her my signature ooey-gooey Coffee-Chocolate Cake (a standing birthday request from her). It was a recipe that I got out of the now-out-of-print Victoria magazine when they did a feature on Jan Karon’s Mitford series. A famous chef designed several cakes that were supposedly being entered into a cake competition. It is delicious!!!
She wants to play cards and enjoy a day off. Sarah is planning a surpirise birthday celebration with all the girls. I’m glad she is my sister.
We were always very close growing up, sharing the same room, and rubbing off on one another. Tricia is kind but opinionated to a fault. She is blunt and says it like it is. She is the most loyal person that I know. She loves the family obsessively and is always organizing dinners and lunches to get together. She has tried to slow down since her bout with ulcerative colitis. She stays up late and sleeps late in the morning. She is a non-stop-talker and is a curbed tomboy. She has very little sense of style. Trish is an excellent negotiator, mediating many fights and misunderstandings in our home. She is sensitive, but is so happy-go-lucky that she never seems to get down. She is honorable and most of the time thinks too highly of her own opinions and beliefs. She is a stickler for honoring Mom and Dad.
She loves Christmas, and is always pestering us about what we are getting for whom, making sure everyone gets what they want. She decorates the outside of the house insanely with thousands of lights during the holidays. She is shy, hates talking on the phone, and loves to hide behind her accomplished internet persona. When you get to know her, she opens up and can talk your head off. She loves the bakery business and can’t stop talking about it night and day. Her bedroom is a computer lab, and she was the first Jones to venture from a Mac to a PC! She is a self-taught Webmaster. She records movies off tv for the family to watch in the evenings when we are all home, and makes sure that Mom and Dad are entertained every evening. She loves to play games (Phase Ten, Canasta, Scrabble, Mexican Dominoes). She has many nicknames: Trish, Trica, Tboomer, P Tarsh, Trash, Trishboomba, Tboomps, and Roo (from childhood). She is loved by many of the girls that she taught between 1999-2001 at CIAS (just look at her Myspace or Xanga!).
I love you, Trishi! I am glad that you were born “in my shadowâ€. I am glad that God made us sisters and love has made us friends!
