little birdies
I
was standing at the kitchen sink, washing a few pots a minute ago. I
had lifted the window a crack earlier today, and tonight, as I was up
to my elbows in steaming, sudsy water, a cool breeze wafted through the
window, laden with heavy lemon-blossom fragrance. I picked my lemons
several weeks ago and pruned to trees a bit, just in time for massive
numbers of strong-smelling blossoms to pop out. It is lovely!
Earlier
this week, I was washing dishes again (can you tell it’s my turn at the
moment?!) and observed a pair of cardinals and a pair of robins
flouncing about in my trees. Then Meg decided to bound out the door,
and they quickly disappeared from sight. That reminds me; I haven’t
seen any mourning doves in a long while.
Today I worked all
afternon and evening in my yard, prepping a flower bed for the bushes
and flowers I bought last week. Several hummingbirds visited the red
feeder while I was out...so, so cute!
I have soooo much to do
for Cori’s shower on Saturday. And since it is spring break, I get to
catch up on ll the work, laundry, finances, taxes, in addition to
painting, shopping, and planning. Went shopping all afternoon on
Saturday. Brian and Cori were my drivers for the day; didn’t plan it
that way, but didn’t think about driving my own car for such a long
shopping list! How do I catch up with so much to get done in so few
short days off?!
I have to get up first thing in the AM to ice a cake. Still have several pie crusts to prep tonight before I hit the sack.
Sooo tired... :P
